After hours of stalking, scouting, & asking people to take a photo for my blog I finally got one to agree!
Her outfit comes from a few different inspirations. First, lets take her pants also known as "harem pants" for example, the biggest icon I can remember to introduce this pant style was MC HAMMER, for those who are not familiar...
<---- That strapping (not so young) lad ladies & gents is Mr. Hammer himself sporting the baggy long pants which are tapered at the ankles with over sized/saggy pockets aka harem pants. This icon became popular in the 1980's, however, his style hit mainstream after his debut song "Can't Touch This" in 1988.Aside from the fact that MC HAMMER happens to be flashing a fashion tragedy with his harem pants and bright yellow Sgt. Pepper-like jacket I would pick her (woman above) interpretation any day.
I would consider this particular trend to follow under the trickle down theory, due to the fact that this style was introduced by a celebrity. If you ask my opinion, I would place the harem pants at the peak of the trend cycle chart. Stores like H&M, Halston, and BEBE began designing their interpretation of these pants either in cotton, silk, or jersey material. Typically, I see either young teens or individuals in their mid twenties as the largest consumers of this style.
